All Station Meet Up \ Thursday, January 7, 6-7:30 p.m.

All Station Meet Up \ Thursday, January 7, 6-7:30 p.m.

You are invited to our very first all station meet up to start the new year! This is for our new supporting members, interested community members, and our radio building leaders to gather, share food (it is a potluck! please bring a dish!), and to hear report backs from each of our working committees: Outreach, Fundraising, Governance, Tech, and Programming.

Find out where we are at in our timeline, connect with other radio lovers, and how you can help us get on the air by our deadline of May 2016! The meet up will happen in the new Media Factory in the VCAM & RETN space at 208 Flynn Ave, which is where the new radio studio will be too! Directions are here!

Meet Your Radio Makers: Tiff Lee–[In]tern It Up!

[see what I did there?]

Tiff Photo

Hello!

I’m Tiffany, one of two new interns for WBTV dropping in for a quick hey! I’m pumped to work with this wonderful team on this wonderful project.

Fun fact: I’m constantly talking about media and social change. That’s why I jumped at the opportunity to be involved in this community radio endeavor. When I’m not on my social soap box I’m usually writing, wandering, and exploring the social media community.

Speaking of social media and the amplification of voices, here are a few things I’ve been into lately.

1] Bitch Media
I’ve been streaming this podcast nonstop. In their words, “Bitch Media is a feminist response to pop culture”, aka the perfect background to my everyday activities.

2] Button Poetry
For me, Youtube is essential. This channel is a must as it features beautifully performed poetry and some of the most artfully delivered words I’ve ever experienced.

3] Black Girls Talking
Another awesome podcast that covers topics concerning women of color discussed by women of color. ’nuff said :]

I’m incredibly looking forward to sharing more with you all
Here’s to getting started!

99.3FM WBTV-LP Community Listening Session – Monday, April 20th 7pm

173490357-black-and-white-headphones-gettyimagesThe folks working hard on the planning for the station are launching a series of Community Listening & Info Sessions this spring. This is a chance for us to explain to you what this low-power community radio station is about, the timeline, and for YOU to learn how to get involved, how to support, and how to help us shape the vision of the station & structure.

Our first 99.3FM WBTV-LP Community Listening Session will be Monday, April 20th 7pm-8:30pm at the VCAM/RETN media center space at 208 Flynn Ave., suite 2-G in Burlington, VT’s South End. Everyone is invited, come drop-in, stay the whole time, tell your friends — we will have snacks!

For more information on this event or the outreach efforts of the station, please contact Joanna Thomas – vivavermont [at] gmail.com or call VCAM at 802-651-9692.
