On June 23rd, Rik Palieri & Jason Baker hosted “A Tribute to Pete Seeger from Clearwater Friends” for a special episode of Folk Talk with Rik Palieri and it was simply amazing. Along with the absolutely beautiful music, it was impressive to witness this wonderful group of eight musicians playing a full, live show in our little booth!

In the latest in our series of interviews with local mediamakers, we talk with local radio cooking guru Melissa Pasanen, about what she’s listening for in a good food program, how local radio really does impact real world eating, and what a truly great cupcake sounds like on-air.
Listen.
WBTV-LP launched our radio makers interview series, WBTV Unplugged a few months back and we have our second episode ready for you. The format is radio makers interviewing radio makers. In this episode hear Aly Perry from WRUV’s Soundsmith Radio!

In late spring, WBTV-LP launched our radio makers interview series, WBTV Unplugged. A chance for radio makers to interview radio makers. Wow, we had no idea what kind of cool content we would get from these. You need to listen! Up first, Dom Berrini, long-time host of WRUV’s Exposure.

Welcome to WBTV Unplugged, our new series of audio stories with local radiomakers, talking about what makes radio rock. Or talk. Or deliver pizza. (It gets complicated).
Each month, two members of the Burlington, Vermont-area radio arts scene sit down and just… talk. That’s it. No frills, nothing fancy, just a good old-fashioned conversation about radio.
Our first conversation featured local jazz musician and live music-on-the-radio producer Dom Berrini and me. I’m Audrey Homan, a Vermont podcaster, radio dj and tech educator.
As host of WRUV fm Burlington’s live local music program, Exposure, Dom turns the microphone to the wealth of local and Vermont musical talent. Each week brings a live performance broadcast from the studio and casual conversation about the music. Dom’s also hosted the popular Mars for the Common Man radio show on WRUV, and is an enthusiastic local musician and live music fan. He also has a nifty bike helmet.
Our conversation went a little something like this.

“If you ever had some crazy idea for some show, you know, whether you were trying to make a movie or if you were writing a tv show or a play or something, figure out how to turn it into radio.
I hope that people are out there and they’ve had this cool idea and never had an outlet for it, and figure out how to make it into radio — that idea that you’re passionate about.” –Dom
You can catch Dom as the host of WRUV fm Burlington’s Exposure, Wednesday nights from 6-8pm at 90.1FM or at wruv.org, and at random and mysterious times at live venues around Burlington.
