99.3FM, WBTV-LP Internship Summer 2015
By the summer of 2016, 99.3FM, WBTV-LP, will be a low-power FM community radio station on the air in Burlington, created by a consortium of community leaders and nonprofit media centers (RETN, Channel 17/Town Meeting Television, and VCAM).
During 2015, the station is in a critical station-building mode, where we are fundraising, gathering community input, building the studio, and mapping out the policy and programming guidelines. This is a rare and unique opportunity to learn how a radio station is built and help make it happen.
This summer, the 99.3FM, WBTV-LP Internship will involve:
- Community Outreach – co-facilitate and plan community listening sessions, tabling at local events, and interface online with locals who are interested in the station.
- Fundraising – work side by side with a development professional and volunteers to establish a database, launch a crowdsourcing fundraising campaign, plan for major gift asks, solicit underwriting, plan events, and research and write grants.
- Community Organizing and Planning – attend planning meetings with the Radio Advisory Council, work side by side with community media leaders to set goals, map out work plans, and a timeline for station building.
Internship timeframe: Late May – Mid August, 2015
