WBTV-LP All Station Meeting: Mon. Jan. 30, 2017

The WBTV-LP Radio Advisory Council (RAC) is excited to announce our next All Station Meeting on Monday, January 30 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Media Factory & studio location at 208 Flynn Ave. here in Burlington.
The meeting will include:
  • a potluck (so please bring something to share),
  • a chance for programmers (training or trained) to meet each other, network, and mingle,
  • an update from the RAC on the station building (streaming & what is next)
  • and some committee building & planning for programmers and members to plug into next steps toward further building a sustainable station in 2017.
We also invite all programmers and supporting members to join us before the all station meeting for the RAC rom 5:30-7 p.m. for the RAC meeting (same location), where we will be discussing the 2017 station budget (very important) and other station sustaining topics that will help frame the next year.
These meetings are always open to the public, but we encourage everyone to attend this time around to learn more in depth what we are tackling and to also consider running for a RAC position when we hold the election process sometime in 2017. You can catch up on past RAC meeting minutes here.
If you have questions about the RAC email me (thelluvia@gmail.com) or my co-chair Bill Simmon: bill@vermontcam.org.

The MixTape with DJ Sacramento & DJ Llu

DJ Sacramento & DJ Llu took to the WBTV-LP studio this week to launch their new show, the Mix Tape – a collection of songs with a theme, peppered with commentary and witty banter. We are doing live to tape till our online stream kicks on!

Tune in! Yes, really.

You have all been so patient through this long station-building process. We are so stoked to soft laimg_0147unch the station this month with a handful of our first shows which will be a way for us to test the station out, train new programmers, and start streaming online for listeners.

Check out the new FIRST schedule that starts Sunday, December 4 and will be live to tape (for rebroadcast as we get programming filled up). The actual live stream of live shows is coming very, very soon! Stay locked to our social media and this website for the live streaming link (coming very soon).

We are asking you to give just $9.93.

We are asking you for $9.93 today.

So we can give you some amazing radio to listen to as we (finally) launch the station online in December. Can you help?

shutterstock_293654555We need to raise a total of $500, starting today, to fund streaming for the first year.

Getting us online means at WBTV-LP, Burlington will be able to:

  • Get our first 26 community programmers “on the air” in the next few weeks, giving you a wide range of new local radio to listen to!
  • Help us recruit more radio-makers and underwriters who will help us expand the station in 2017.
  • Prepare the whole station to raise our broadcasting tower in the spring of 2017 and go over the radio airwaves next!

Just 50 supporters renewing (or starting) their annual WBTV-LP membership today at $9.93 (or more) will get us online!

Thank you for supporting community radio in Burlington on #GivingTuesday and throughout the month of December.

Pinch us.

The final piece of our studio build was installed yesterday–the counter. It is new, it is shiny, it is custom made to ensure the studio is accessible, comfortable, and fits all the gear radio makers will need to broadcast!

What’s next?

We finish our first round of programmer training (yup, we have had 25+ folks getting trained up on station basics, the art of radio, and next, the studio tech). We will have these folks be our first “beta” schedule as we stream online later this fall.

Then what?

Hot on the heels of getting online, we will raise a broadcast tower and pump out 100 watts of broadcast quality content to all of Burlington (and then some).

Can I still become a programmer?

Yup! We are always taking new apps, but you will have to wait till our next round of new programmer training (likely early in 2017) before you can join our first crew of programmers.

What can make this move faster?

Your time.

Your donations.

I still have questions…

We have answers.
