Whether you’re making a talk show or documentary for radio, TV, or film; doing an oral history, or writing a feature article; conducting an interview that yields great content from your interview subject can be challenging. Making your subjects both comfortable and engaged, especially when there are microphones, cameras, and even lights pointed at them, is difficult under even the best circumstances. What are some techniques that are tried and true for getting the most out of your interview? The workshop will include both discussion and demonstrations, as well as hands-on interviewing.

This workshop will teach you:

Interview methods that have worked and some best practices for interviewers
Technical aspects, such as mic placement and picture composition
How to “listen like an editor”
Facilities, Materials, Payment and Registration:

This 90 minute workshop will be offered Monday, September 28 at the VCAM studio and there is a suggested donation of $25 (sliding scale) asked per participant to help fund the 99.3FM, WBTV-LP radio project. In just under two hours you will learn the art of the storytelling that makes social media management really #StandOut. Led by VCAM’s Development & Outreach Manager, Llu Mulvaney-Stanak [@djllu], this workshop will go beyond the basics and focus on the how to create personality [no matter your social media network] and a sense of value of what you share with your followers. This is a great workshop for an outreach staffer from a non-profit or business or individuals looking to create a better brand for their projects.

This workshop will teach you:

How to create content that is of interest to your followers.
A number of new social media tools & tricks.
To be excited to flip your social media strategy.
This 1 1/2 hour workshop will be offered Wednesday, September 30 at the VCAM studios and there is a suggested donation of $25 (sliding scale) asked per participant to help fund the 99.3FM, WBTV-LP radio project. Instructor: Llu Mulvaney-Stanak. Llu has been managing social media for organizations, political campaigns, and Llu’s own DJ & consulting business since Facebook went public. Bringing nearly two decades of professional marketing, multi-media, and outreach experience to media education teaching, Llu uses a mix of humor and cat memes to help participants find their groove on social media.
